Put-in-Bay, also known as Put in Bay, is a vacation resort island located in Ohio located in the middle of Lake Erie off the coast of Port Clinton. It features many great attractions for all ages and is an ideal place for families and weekend visitors seeking a great escape.

You can get there by high speed passenger ferry or by private boat or even by small airplane. There are numerous restaurants and many bars that offer many different type of food and entertainment, day and night, appealing to all age ranges.

An example of what a visitor might encounter during their vacation getaway to Put-in-Bay:

We planned a trip online to visit Put-in-Bay in August for a long three day weekend. We departed from Port Clinton, Ohio, on the Jet-Express ferry and literally flew across the water on the catamaran ferry. We had reservations at the Put-in-Bay Commodore Resort for a poolview with a balcony room. The resort was located within walking distance from the ferry boat so we did not need to take a taxi and enjoyed our walk through the park.

Upon arrival at the resort, we were pleasantly surprised to find a modern, extremely clean facility with accommodating front desk staff! There was a large pool with a swim up bar and a HUGE cabana that held about 20 people. Check in was quick and the front desk staff was helpful in answering our first timer questions about the island.

We then arrived in our room to find a well appointed and comfortable living space. Our room had free high speed internet so we could update our Facebook and also had a refrigerator which came in handy for the beverages we had brought with us.

We then rented a golf cart at the suggestion of the front desk (sub-rented from Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Depot apparently) and began to tour the island with a convenient map that was provided at the rental office. We stopped at Hooligans, the island Irish joint, for a late lunch.

The island itself is about 5 miles by 3 miles long. We found several caves (Crystal Cave and Perry's Cave) that we could tour and a very nice winery that offered samples and a tour as well. There is also a very nice state park all the way at the back end of the island called South Bass Island State Park that had a beautiful view of the lake and camping. We plan to go back and jet ski there next time from the jet ski rental place!

For dinner, we enjoyed dining at the Boardwalk restaurant which was primarily seafood and located on the water. They say they have the best lobster bisqu on Lake Erie, and we believe them! We also at at a place called Mossbacks the next night which was also very nice and had a great steak there!

After dinner, we watched a local entertainer named Pat Dailey at the Boathouse and he was fantastic! His songs were funny and had a lot of local flair and he really encouraged audience participation!

There were two main places to eat breakfast during our stay... Pasquales and Frostys. In our opinion, the Pasquales was a better value but the Frostys offered free coffee while waiting in line. Our last day we had continental breakfast at the resort. Our last two lunches we ate were poolside while laying out tanning at the MIST pool bar and were wonderful. The menu was your typical sandwiches, salads, appetizers, etc. but we opted for one of their signature pizzas (chicken alfredo) and it was darn good.

All is all, this trip to Put-in-Bay was one of the best vacations we have had inside of the United States! There's not even a traffic light on the island, so you really feel as if you've escaped reality and are on some island in the Caribbean.
